Over the weekend, social media accounts across the world were used to vividly glorify gay pride. But now homophobic Russian sare fighting back with a Facebook app designed to replace the rainbow flags of the gay rights movement with the nation's famous tricolour flag. To mark the day gay marriage was made legal in the US, Facebook released an app last week called "Let's Celebrate Pride" which allowed users to overlay an image of the famous brightly-coloured flag over their profile picture.
More than a million people used this app to show their support, sending brightly-coloured messages of tolerance across the world.But homophobes around the world immediately began expressing their anger, with many taking to social media to ask how to remove the filter.
